Our take...

Richmond Centre is located on busy No. 3 Road along accessible bus routes. If traveling by car, there is a ton of parking designated for disabled persons. Parking spots are spacious, clearly marked and conveniently and strategically located near entrances and curb cuts. There are quite a few parking spots within close proximity to the theatre on the west side of the building. Mall doors all have power-operated buttons, and the entrance leading from the mall into the theatre is wide open. The ticket booth is about 4ft from the floor. Movie signage is lighted red on black and in a fair sized font. An elevator leads from the main floor up to the screening rooms. The elevator has Braille and lit signage that is easily reached by wheelchair. A theatre employee will assist upon request. The second floor of the theatre is pretty wide open, and floors and walls offer strong colour contrast. Signage is in a larger font. There are accessible washrooms with tactile and clearly visible signage. Colour contrast inside is strong; mirrors and accessories are lowered; the sink has clearance and levered handles; and the floor area is uncluttered. Goodies are available in the lobby and vendors have lowered counter space for wheelchair users. Pull handles allow entry into screening rooms. There are spots at the back of the theatre on the end of the seating isles designated for wheelchair users. Transfers into seats may be tricky because armrests obstruct transfer space and are non-removable. RWC and DVS are not offered at Richmond Centre 6, so I recommend Silver City, which does offer these features, for deaf or hard of hearing or blind or visually impaired guests. For those who do not require visual or audible assistive devices, Richmond Centre 6 is a great place.

If you prefer to pay a little less to view a movie and enjoy sitting at the back of the theatre, give Richmond Centre 6 a try. Additionally, there are a ton of restaurants, stores and attractions located in Richmond Centre, so why not make a day of it. Visit www.famousplayers.com to learn more about the theatre and show times.
